Rod is a founder and chairman of ASW Law, a firm renowned as pre-eminent in insurance and reinsurance law (although the firm practices also in the general corporate and commercial fields. He has 30 years’ experience of practice and is also now an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda. In addition to appearing as lead counsel in large complex commercial disputes valued in the billions of US dollars (in court trials as well as in international arbitrations), Rod has also appeared as lead counsel in some of the most important human rights cases in the Bermuda courts. Rod is the Chairman of the Insurance Advisory committee, which advises the Bermuda government on insurance matters, and Chairman of the Bermuda Insurance Act Appeals Tribunal and the Tax Appeals Tribunal (both statutory/regulatory appeals tribunals). He is ranked in leading legal directories. In addition to English, Rod speaks Spanish fluently.
